Yes, Mike, You Have The Right
By Lynnette Horn
Yes, Mike, you have the right
to use the platform of the night
to rage against our going to war.
Isn't that what the Oscars are for?

How silly the folk who didn't know
There's more to awards than just a show,
Who naively expected to tune in
For an evening respite from CNN.

Didn't they know time is the prize
For winners to use as they see wise?
Or unwise--as in your case, Mr. Moore,
Garnering jeers and cheers from the floor.

But, still as an American, it is your due
To openly express your dissenting view.
Unlike Iraqis, who dare not protest
For fear of placing their families at risk,

You have the right to be tactless and rude,
As well as pompous, belligerent and crude.
But for all your rights I have some too.
And in exercising mine I say, "Booooooo!"
